SPECIAL INVITED GUESTS IN THE WEEKLY SEMINARS
• On 10 May 2018, room CP2, at 11:00, DANIEL DĂIANU, member of the Administration Council of the National Bank of Romania and member of the Romanian Academic Society (ex-minister of Finance) delivered the speech Romania on the path to euro.
Since 2011, Daniel Dăianu is also a member of the European Council for External Relations and a member of HLGOR (High Level Group on Own Resources) of the EU – a group led by Mario Monti.
This was a beneficial occasion for the participating students of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Business Administration, who were informed about Romania’s compliance with the nominal and real convergence criteria for adopting the European currency.
The conclusion of the discussion was that Romania is not yet prepared for becoming a member of the Eurozone, but it could join it in the following 10 years. The National Convention for adopting euro till 2024 was voted in March this year.
• GABRIELA DRĂGAN, director of the European Institute of Romania
On 20 April 2018, room CP3 (12.00-14.00), professor Gabriela Dragan, Ph. D., director of the European Institute of Romania, presented the lecture The Romanian Presidency at the EU Council (Power Point available on the project website).
The lecture was followed by questions addressed by students of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Business Administration.
Students of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Business Administration were informed about Romanian’s priorities in the next period of its presedency of the Council of the EU ( January-June 2019), a high importance European institution, with a major role in the decisional architecture of the EU. The students were also involved in debating the main challenges of the sem. I 2019: Brexit, elections for the European Parliament, negotiatons for the future multi-annual financed framework and Sibiu Summit.
